Why do bars that want to be speakeasies keep using the word "death" in their name? We're convinced it only invites their own demise. But our advice aside, this member's only bar -- no exceptions (that we could see) -- is the combination of the two. A member's spot and a speakeasy spot. Inside a pizza joint that used to be a second hand furniture store. Joining at least foregoes the whole "will they, won't they" business about being let in. Those who didn't get the memo about the situation can have pizza and cold beer upstairs at the Super Pizza (which actually lives up to its name, it's not bad). No dimly lit cocktails in a tin- panelled basement for you.
