Crowne Plaza London The City
19 New Bridge Street
011 44 870 400 9190

Travelling for work to The City can mean choosing between a dreadful hotel that's close to your meetings or one that's well- located, but not getting both. Which is where this hotel wins. There's no members only whatnot here and you won't walk into any Starck walls, but what this Crowne Plaza does spectacularly well are two things: its beds are absurdly comfortable and the restaurant downstairs is stupendous. Their beds are soft on top but firm on support, and trust us, you'll forgive them the fairly corporate decor when you doze off on the enormous pillows. In fact, they're so committed to this key aspect; they have a sleep program. Download podcasts at crowneplaza.co.uk/sleep. Downstairs, the surprise is the amazing Chinese restaurant -- quite possibly the best in all of London. Really – and it makes for a superb finishing touch on a long work day. You'll be happy to have your work dinners here and roll upstairs. In fact, the efficiency of it all might even leave you time to go check out neighbouring attractions: the Tate Modern, St Paul's Cathedral, the London Eye, and Buddha Bar.
