Roast
Floral Hall, Stoney Street, Borough Market
011 44 207 940 1300

Roast, above the ever popular Borough Market at London Bridge, is unique in several ways. Culling from the produce below (specialty pork, artisanal cheeses, fish caught earlier that morning) Iqbal Wahhab (who did the Cinnamon Club in Westminster) serves up the best of British. Singlehandedly changing people's minds on how good British food can be, it's also unique because it's entirely non smoking. The beautiful wrought iron and glass room is made from the antique work of the Coven Garden flower market which Iqbal got for 1 quid because it was sitting in a warehouse. Head cook is Lawrence Keogh, previously at The Avenue and Bluebird. Must dishes are roast pheasant with sherry parsnips and chestnuts, slow roast belly of pork with spiced apples, sherry trifle and the sticky date pudding with butterscotch sauce.
