Yes it's just a pub with a dining room. One without a lot of atmosphere if we're really honest about it. But we can't tell you how many emails we get asking for the real deal. And if British food is what you want, at least the way the West End-Sloaney set does it, then this tasty kitchen is the ticket. Just a couple of blocks south of the Marylebone tube, this spot serves up dishes such as sardines on toast, beer battered cod with mushy peas, sausage and mash done with tarragon and grilled calves liver with bacon, chicory and capers. Perfect in every way down to pudding, they have Eton mess (berries in cream with meringue) and rhubarb crumble. Simple, fresh, uncomplicated, it's a terrific break from the "scene."
