Named after the year the hotel opened (duh), it’s a very plain wooden room in the way only L.A. could get away with. This combo former tea room, boardroom and suite is meant to be clubby, what with the mahogany paneling and leather chairs, but feels a bit corporate. Well, it is a hotel bar. The draw is the outside L shaped, palm tree covered terrace overlooking the pool where wannabe Trumps (he was the opening’s A lister so you get the idea) down cutesy themed drinks (are we serious with the Jello shots topped with mint leaves?) such as apple martini popsicles and Cereal Milk martinis. Food is the standard high end bar fare: quesadillas, smoked salmon on brioche and buckwheat blinis with caviar. All in all an improvement on the area and a good place to take a meeting after work to close your TV deal.
