Sushi Chef Katsuya Uechi's restaurant with Philippe Starck is just the first of a mini-chain of Katsuya restaurants to open in Los Angeles. Gone is the stigma of having more than one location. Designed as a Japanese “Bento box” by Starck, the Brentwood spot seats 170 across two levels, an outdoor terrace, a sushi bar with a ceremonial Shiminawa rope, and a Robata Bar (small fire grill) surrounded by large black Noren curtains in the center of the restaurant. Boulders topped with flames decorate the outside, inside they're hollowed out to hold chilled sake, like oversized ice buckets. One of only four Master Sushi Chefs in the Los Angeles area, expect tempura, ceviche sesame tuna cones, and spicy albacore sashimi with crispy onion from Katsuya...
