The Abbey
692 N Robertson Boulevard
310 289 8410

Ah The Abbey. How do we love thee. Let us count the ways. This West Hollywood legend (literally world famous, people come from all over to go to it) is most well known as the place gay people bring their straight friends. But this seventeen year old spot (taken over by SBE a couple of years ago) started across the street as just a bakery then expanded into a bar slash restaurant that amongst other things serves up the best coconut, mango, raspberry (and other flavoured) mojitos we've ever had (they do all their fruity concoctions with vodka too). Composed of several rooms including a series of cabanas with linear fans in the back, there's four bars total, the newest of which is an indoor space with a stupendous Chihuly chandelier and roaring fireplace where Christina Aguilera had her birthday party. There's also something resort- like about the highly relaxed outdoor patio of round tables and square booths where breakfast, lunch and dinner are served and you will want to lounge over your caesar salad or grilled salmon (done with grilled romaine) or key lime pie all day - and if you're anything like us, after the fantastic sun and sips, you just won't want to go back to work. Oh, and the ridiculously hot staff (who knew there were people with such great pecs AND a sense of humour) doesn't hurt either.
