Syl Tang

President*Founder

Syl Tang is the Founder and President of HipGuide. She is responsible for the vision and direction of the company and its day-to-day operations, including overseeing all Alliances, Business Development, Content, Marketing, Operations, Recruitment, Sales and Technology efforts. She was born in Paris, where she still keeps an apartment. With her family split between Australia, France and Germany, Syl brings nearly three decades of traveling the world to the creation of HipGuide. She has been featured on the cover of the New York Times Style section, in New York Magazine as the "Next Generation of Silicon Alley", in the NY Post, The Noise in The Alley, which called her "As Hip As They Get", as well as in Newsweek, the Industry Standard, Business 2.0, Inner City magazine, NPR's Marketplace, dBusiness, NY Times' NYToday site, on Pseudo, and in numerous other press. She has spoken on topics ranging from The Future of Wireless to PR and Marketing for New Media Companies for organizations from the New York New Media Association and AlleyCat News to the Economic Development Corporation.

She has written articles that have been distributed into 1000+ worldwide cities on the topic of hip and style for publications such as Simplycity Magazine. In the creation of HipGuide, Syl grew her relationships in both the new media and entertainment community world-wide to include over 2000+ regular contacts, including having former NFL star Carl Banks on HipGuide's Advisory Board.

Previously she held two roles at Andersen Consulting, running structural planning for Global New Business Models where her client base included Allstate, American Express, and USWest and applying a $3.8 million budget to building a Technology Executive Recruiting department for Financial Services. Syl graduated from Cornell University.
