Greg Brier and Ophir Sternberg (Aspen) join forces with Vikram Chatwal at this bilevel lounge that's part of restaurant Amalia. Amalia, which is a series of fabulous intimate rooms (we love the paintings on the ceiling of the Portrait Room) has Ivy Stark (Rosa Mexicano, Match) heading up the New American eats. Then there's this attached underground lounge bar. In here, it's 100% about the scene. And clever of designers Steve Lewis and Chris Sheffield to make this nook and cranny at a time when bar goers are looking for something more exclusive and less clubby. It's at once discreet and buzzy so you could have no one know you're here or everyone know you're here, it's up to you. We couldn't be more pleased that something this fabulous has happened to midtown.
