The Parlour Midtown
247 West 30th Street
212 967 1070

A gastro Irish steakhouse is how the Parlour is described. What it is is a sleek addition so sorely needed in west midtown where dank bars seem to dominate. From John Kelly of the Parlour uptown and the Ardesia wine bar folks, this spot has a long black bar lining the front room for the afterwork crowd and dining in the back and upstairs where they're serving up Shepherd's pie and Guinness (and of course steaks). Wall decor features wry drawings of Irish notables. That it's in the building that houses TV personality Robert Verdi's product-showcase Luxe Lounge, along with a slew of other tastemaker type companies (that employ and see a regular foot traffic of editors and celebs) certainly won't hurt.
