This bright sunlit salon overlooking the hustle of Madison Avenue at 57th Street is full of former Fekkai veterans. In the capable hands of Julien Farel for several years now, the duplex space offers hair cuts, colouring, facials. Most notably it's a standout for its predominantly French staff (and therefore very French hair cuts, whether you fancy yourself Loulou de la Falaise or Lou Doillon....) and the visibly busy on-site washer- dryers which guarantee every robe and towel that touches you is pristine. We also liked that a tremendous number of appearance- conscious men and pregnant women were having their hair done. This latter note on the demographic of the clientele reassures us that anyone could be comfortable and safe here. During the summer, there is also a wooden city garden in the back where you can while away your afternoon over their good espresso. Try to get Julien himself as none of his staff are as good as the original.
