We won't name names but there is a certain restaurant that has been trying to open in Chelsea Market for nearly two years now, but hasn't. Why? Because NY is a locals town with a pecking order. Nicolas Matar (formerly the DJ at Pacha in Ibiza) told us that "everyone will be treated the same" but newsflash, NY is not that kind of town. He's managed to get Cielo open, but here's hoping that the doorman he imported from Ibiza learns the local influences f-a-s-t. On our way in on opening night, we watched him turn away the scene writer of a major national magazine. Once inside the sunken dance floor is so beautiful and Nicolas' house spins so good that it would be a shame to see egos and past success destroy this pint sized club at the velvet rope.
