While this spot has not had the lustre of Nell's in the 80s, reopened as The Plumm, Noel Ashman and his investors such as Chris Noth, Samantha Ronson and Damon Dash are giving it the old college try (ok, round two since it used to be NA). Some things are the same, the 80s rock tunes are still playing, the floor is still scratched up and the bathroom still reminds you of high school. But bringing in a whole new set is what it's about and this is surely where the fashion set will (Lauren Davis, Zac Posen, Miuccia Prada already have) find refuge from the tourists swarming the MPD. This time they've gone semi-private in the try to create that club house atmosphere. Invite-only to the two floors, you'll need a key chain to get access to the inside which features a tequila bar downstairs, the banquettes that line one wall, and uniforms from Moises de la Renta. If you see the publicist who dressed you for the evening getting her next big fashion job over cocktails with the competitor, say nothing. What happens at The Plumm should be as secret as when it was Nell's.
