The fun spot Country Club benefits from having a pretty crowd that is neither too young nor too old, a door policy that is tight enough to be interesting yet not mean, of course Alan Philips and Josh Shames doing their marketing, but mainly what makes this spot work is that ironically (given the name) it’s neither too A list clubby nor missing a celebrity touch. Co-owned by William DeMeo and MLB ace Bronson Arroyo (from the Cincinnati Reds), it gets the kind of only- slightly- bold- faced names that walk- and party- amongst us but whom don’t need their own body guards. Granted there is a VIP area in the back, courtesy of a slightly elevated stage, but with the main floor open (lots of socialising and some dancing later on), well, it’s just proletariat enough ( $12 cocktails). A good selection of private parties, such as Carlos Campos during Fashion Week doesn’t hurt. A huge improvement from when the address was Dirty Disco.
