From Vikram Chatwal (Dream) comes this hotel that pays homage to anything happening between the hours from dawn to dusk. The 72-room hotel is intended to be a “Gothic Gotham” with walls of custom- created black tiles, black carpeting to the high- tech animated room number on a screen located beside their door. Perhaps what the hotelier envisions in the “anything” part of this homage takes place at the focal point of each room; an enormous chariot bed faceted with a sweeping black cape headboard. Coach black leather office chairs made by Steelcase, WiFi, Panasonic plasma flat screen TVs, BOSE sound systems (iPod ready with a CD wave system) and Frette sheets complete the room décor. Small details include Molton Brown bath products and Telegraph Hill robes, available of course in either black or white. Even black Nano iPods are available upon request. Suitably, night owl restaurateur Alex Freij provides the hotel’s 24- hour room service through his restaurant and lounge downstairs, named ‘nightlife’. Cute touch includes the custom-made personal business cards each guest receives when they check in, displaying the guest’s name, Night residence and phone number. In case you should of course want to broadcast your evening’s intentions to New Yorkers. Rates range from $275 – 525 a night and $1,500 -- $2,500 a night for the penthouse suites.
