A $40 million reno has given new life to the rooms at this the most well known of the Ws. Wow suites and E-Wow suites (boy, the name reminds of us of Ewoks. Warm fuzzies anyone?) come with large living spaces, some with posh decks complete with pool tables where one can entertain. From the outside, it's possible to marvel at the truly New Yorkness of the architecture of the building and, though it won't come cheap, the possibilities on the inside are endless as the hotel comes with the Wish programme. As in whatever you wish for whenever. (Almost.) Downstairs the legendary bar remains a true and tried watering hole mostly for travelling business types and the friends they're visiting locally. And the gift shop - the one we consider the best in the business - is irresistible.
