The Spotted Pig
314 West 11th Street
212 620 0393

Word to the wise. Every single person we know who has been to The Spotted Pig has complained to us about the service. From being forgotten at the bar while waiting for a table to being told that the owner's friends take precedence over press, we've heard it all. When we were there, we were stuck with overseasoned fish with no option to change it. That said, this "gastro-pub" (whatever the hell that means) run by A&R exec Ken Friedman (who was responsible for Nine Inch Nails and The Smiths), Mario Batali and British chef April Bloomfield (plucked from London's River Cafe at Jamie Oliver's suggestion) certainly has all the buzz of the West Vill. Serving up pork and fennel sausage with polenta, skirt steak with creme fraiche, as well as the classic shepherd's pie, this place has been linked to every music celeb imaginable. Rumours of investments from Jay Z and REM bring star spotters out. And their time is apparently well-invested as Chelsea Clinton and Leonardo DiCaprio were spotted by Page Six on the same night. Brace yourself for bona fide rudeness and you just might get to dine next to Hollywood.
