Jean Luc
507 Columbus Avenue
212 712 1700

Don't worry, we aren't going to try to sell you that the Upper West Side is hip. After all, a pair of horn- rimmed glasses and a New Yorker Magazine does not an intellectual make, n'est-ce pas? But location aside, we've always like Jean Luc for the reliable French bistro classics (steak au poivre, anyone?), the overall affability of owner Ed Kleefield (AKA Jean Luc), for the clientele that loves him, for the general bon vivant atmosphere, oh and for the Biedermeier chairs we love to sit in! With the renovated JLX Cafe, the restaurant takes on a whole new life. Celebratory as ever, this spot would make even an America Firster amiable to Franco-American relations.
