Lunetta
920 Broadway
212 533 3663

Lunetta has taken over the Mayrose space and we can't decide whether that is good or not since we loved the diner. (A spot so beloved by fashionistas incidentally that it made it into The Devil Wears Prada.) Nonetheless, this spot has become a sunny, charming Italian room with delicious meatballs, an impeccable minestrone soup (that is more ingredients than soup), cavatelli with lamb and a slew of lovely salads. (The only real miss are the sides, which seem to be the bastard stepchild of the menu, such as the brussel sprouts, which arrived strangely small and too salty.) The room is packed at lunch but be prepared to linger as service is still catching up to their popularity and at least now you don't have to go out to Brooklyn (where their first restaurant was opened.)
