A bit incongruous for the neigbourhood, this elegant restaurant is filled with hipsters who get drunk and argue on their iphones whilst spending their parents money. As a result the artisanal art of the Latin bartenders, old fashioned hospitality and charm, and subtle spices of the Arroz Con Pollo (done with chaufa rice, scallions and peppers) is probably lost on them. It is perhaps then the grace of the management, lovelier than their own diners, that has this spot packed night after night with those who come in for the comforting papa rellena (potato mushroom croquettes with a truffle- jalapeno sauce), yummy arepas (done using BBQ short ribs with a cabbage slaw) and such other classics as the Lechon (suckling pig) and an Aji Panka glazed rib eye served with yucca fries. It's not a big place so the bar does get crowded with those waiting for tables and we would say if you're a group, you do need to make a reservation. In fact, it's more suited to friends catching up than say a first date, and notably it's one of the few restaurants we've seen where two women dining together are treated just as well as a couple. Deftly executed.
