Travelers from New York and Paris won't think this concept is new, having been to Buddha Bar, Tao and a zillion million other so- called "Pan- Asian" lounges. (Gee, another restaurant with a large buddha...) But frankly, maybe the Phoenix Hotel finally has the right kind of bar for its space. The poolside dining and cocktail lounge, while not so original, has a heated patio and a giant bamboo grove and inviting dark maple day beds. The floor- to- ceiling waterfalls and slate fireplaces decor created by Shirin Richens and Eric Brand for owners Christina Deeb and Gina Milano (Venticello, Sweet Heat and Nob Hill Café), works.
